The Maskelyne collection honors the innovative spirit of Nevil Maskelyne. In homage to his work regarding the Moon, a moonphase calendar is shown on the face of the dial. Alongside the moonphase calendar are three elegant subdials. Other features of the Maskelyne timepiece include a sturdy stainless steel case and genuine leather straps along with a Japanese Quartz movement enabling the Maskelyne to pair both precise timekeeping with an immaculate appearance.
Part of the Twilight Collection as well, the ES-8031-04 timepiece features the brown tone of the Twilight collection that gives the collection a warm feel to it.
Nevil Maskelyne was a brilliant astronomist who contributed greatly to the field of navigation. Maskelyne made many key discoveries regarding lunar position and its relation to determining longitude and time. Working from the Royal Greenwich Observatory, he contributed greatly towards the development of a system of longitude measurements which would be called the Greenwich meridian when the system was implemented by the British Royal Navy. Now, the Greenwich meridian has been adopted internationally and is known as the Prime Meridian.
